President, Workamper News
Steve and his bride, Kathy Jo of 33 years purchased Workamper News from the founders, Greg & Debbie Robus, in 2005. Prior to ownership of WKN, Steve was the HR Director at Adventureland Amusement Park in Altoona, IA. During his 15-year tenure he developed one of the larger, more successful, Workamper programs in the U.S. Over the years, Steve personally accomplished well over 11,000 Workamper interviews and hired over 6,000 individual Workampers for the amusement park. It was through his experience and development of the Adventureland program that connected him with Workamper News.
Over the past ten years, Steve has developed numerous new programs and continues to be an advocate for education – which stems from his seven years of teaching high school right out of college. Some of the newest things you are hearing about from him is the NEW RVing Lifestyle Ambassador Program and the Small Biz RV School. In partnership with Terry Cooper, the Texas RV Professor, they developed RV Maintenance Education programs and the National RV Inspectors Association. These new ventures have taken Steve and Kathy Jo across America in their motorhome over the last three years promoting the lifestyle of Workamping.
