FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT WORKAMPER RENDEZVOUS

WHAT IS THE WORKAMPER RENDEZVOUS?

Workamper Rendezvous is a 3-day RV lifestyle event with seminars and other activities based on the concept of Workamping (finding jobs as you travel to support your RV lifestyle). Workamper Employers will be on site to answer your specific questions, recruit for open positions and educate attendees on their particular programs during the Employer Panel & Job Fair.

WHEN IS THE WORKAMPER RENDEZVOUS?

October 16th: Registration & Welcome Event
October 17th – 19th: Boot Camp Seminars, RV Lifestyle Seminars, Networking, Activities, Meals
October 20th: Employer Job Fair & Options Bonus Day Sessions

WHERE IS THE WORKAMPER RENDEZVOUS?

Workamper Rendezvous will be hosted in the hometown of Workamper News – Heber Springs, Arkansas. Event activities will take place at the Heber Springs Community Center and shelter house #1 at the US Army Corps of Engineers Dam Site Recreation Area. If there is inclement weather, outdoor activities will be moved to the Community Center.

HOW DO I GET TO HEBER SPRINGS, ARKANSAS?

Addresses for determining driving routes are on the Location page. Click on the zoom in/out bar on the map to get an overview of locations in Heber.

WHY SHOULD I ATTEND?

Attendees will gain valuable information, education, inspiration and practical know-how at this not-to-be-missed, annual event for the Workamping community. Whether you’re a new Workamper or a seasoned vet, you’ll drive away feeling prepared for the adventure ahead. One of the main reasons we encourage everyone to attend at least once is for the social aspect of networking with like-minded individuals who understand the lifestyle and all that it entails. Connecting on social media is great, but in person is absolutely amazing.

CAN I COME EVEN IF I DON'T HAVE AN RV?

Absolutely! Workamper Rendezvous is great even if you have not bought an RV yet. Our favorite local RV dealership will bring some for-sale (usually new) RVs to look through; multiple types of RVs. And what’s even more fun is the RV Home Show. Attendees who come to the event in their RV can volunteer to show off their home on wheels! Looking at new and empty RVs is fun, but being able to see how folks are “living” in these different types of RVs and talk to them about it is much more helpful. Multiple seminars and the Coopers’ Dreamer Discovery Day (an optional Bonus Day session) will help prepare you for buying your RV too!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?

Registration is now open and is limited to 250 people. While you do not have to be a Gold Member of Workamper News to attend, Gold Members have a special price of just $157 per person, which is $40 less than the basic registration fee of $197 per person. The registration fee includes attendance to the welcome event, 3 days of seminars and activities, meals, attendee binder, and t-shirt. It does not include camping/lodging nor Bonus Day sessions.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

We usually do not have a lot of children at this event, but we know times are changing and we welcome families! If you would like a child or grandchild to participate in the entire event, you will need to purchase a ticket for him/her. Children/grandchildren are welcome to attend activities taking place at the shelter house at Dam Site Rec Area for free.

CAN MY SPOUSE/PARTNER/FRIEND JUST COME TO THE MEALS?

We’re sorry to hear that he/she will not be able to join us for all the fun of the Workamper Rendezvous! If that person would like to attend just the meals, please contact our office directly about purchasing a meals-only ticket – support@workamper.com, 800-446-5627 (M-F, 9-4 CT).

WHAT ACCOMMODATIONS ARE AVAILABLE?

RV camp sites are available at several campgrounds in Heber Springs. The closest campgrounds to the Heber Springs Community Center are US Army Corps of Engineers Dam Site Campground & JFK Campground. Sites are $17-22 per night and include 30/50 amp service and water. There are also three locally-owned campgrounds with full hookups. Details and contact information can be found on the Location page. Camping/lodging costs are not included in the Workamper Rendezvous registration fee.

In the history of Workamper Rendezvous, there has never been an RVer who could not find an RV site. There are hundreds of sites between the five+ campgrounds in the local community.

There are multiple hotels/motels in Heber Springs. Visit the Location page for an overview. At the Quality Inn, we have reserved a room block with discounted pricing for attendees. Standard, double, and king bed rooms are available. Please mention the Workamper Rendezvous for special pricing.

AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO CAMP AT DAM SITE?

It’s likely, but it depends on when you’re coming to town. You can’t make reservations at the Corps campgrounds since October is outside of their normal operating season. The number of sites available at Dam Site is going to be based on when you get here, and also if any locals happen to be camping the weekend before Rendezvous. If you are not coming in until Monday, Oct. 16th – have a plan B. Wagon Circle RV Park, USACE JFK, USACE Heber Springs Campground are all good plan Bs. Contact info for all of the campgrounds can be found on the Location page. Usually, about 80 RVs come in to Heber Springs for this event. Wherever you end up camping, you will be with other Rendezvous attendees.

CAN I ARRIVE EARLY OR STAY LATE?

Yes! Book your site for a few days before the event and check out the local area! Stay for a few days after and see a few sights in the southern Ozarks! Since camp sites at the US Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds are first-come, first-serve, many attendees who choose to camp there arrive to Heber Springs early for prime-pick of the available camp sites.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

There are 2 ways to register for Workamper Rendezvous:

  • Here on our website – Register page
  • Call the Workamper News Office at 800-446-5627 (M-F, 9-4 CT)

I AM A GOLD MEMBER. HOW DO I GET THE DISCOUNTED REGISTRATION FEE?

Current Workamper News Gold members receive $40 off, making it $157/person to attend. Check your email inbox for a special email we sent you with the promo code to enter when registering for Workamper Rendezvous here on the website. Having trouble finding the promo code? Call the office at 800-446-5627 or email support@workamper.com

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A BONUS DAY SESSION?

You can register for any of the optional Bonus Day sessions when registering for the Workamper Rendezvous event itself. The registration process takes you through our online shopping cart, so you can first add the main Rendezvous event to your cart, then continue shopping and add any of the Bonus Day sessions you’d like to attend as well.

You can sign up for Bonus Day sessions here on our website up to when the event begins via the Bonus Sessions page. But you’ll want to register as soon as possible as these sessions have more limited seating! Any Bonus Day sessions that still have remaining seats available will be included on the Workamper Rendezvous Store order form and you will be able to register during the week of the event.

WHY ARE THE BONUS DAY SESSIONS AN EXTRA COST?

The expert seminar presenters have volunteered their time to share their experience and knowledge during the Workamper Rendezvous general seminar sessions. But they’re limited in time and have much more they can help you with! These presenters are offering more of their time and talents by creating these special Bonus Day sessions that we hope you will take advantage of. Our presenters are RVers themselves and they fund their lifestyle by providing great information and products to their fellow RVers. Your support of their endeavors is appreciated and also beneficial for you!

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

We know sometimes things come up that cannot be avoided. If you have purchased tickets to the Rendezvous and for any reason decide that you cannot come, please call or email us to request a refund. We normally process your refund within 24-48 hours. Refunds will be credited back to the card used to register. If we are unable to credit back to the card for any reason, we will mail a check.

Refunds will be made in full (minus transaction fees of 3%) up to two weeks before the event. Past this date, due to the costs involved with getting your event materials prepared and meals accounted for, we will subtract $60 per ticket from the refund amount.

Optional Bonus Day session refunds: If you need to cancel your registration for one of these sessions please contact us ASAP as there is very limited seating. Refunds will be made in full minus transaction fees of 3% up to two weeks before the event. Past this date, the refund amount will be determined by the presenter of the Bonus Day session based on their costs/materials acquired for their attendees.

CAN WE REGISTER ONSITE AT THE EVENT?

It is best that you register ahead of time (at least 1-2 weeks before October 16th). We customize your event materials, plus order t-shirts and meals weeks before the event. Waiting to notify us of your attendance until the first day of the Workamper Rendezvous may result in some missed benefits.

CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT THE EVENT?

No, but thanks for asking! We are thankful to have a great event staff already in place. There are no opportunities to trade working the event for attendance to the event.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND THE WELCOME EVENT & CHECK-IN?

While the Welcome Event & Check-in are not required, we would love to have you attend! The Workamper News staff and seminar presenters will be introduced, and we always do a fun skit to kick-off the Workamper Rendezvous. You’ll also be able to pick up your sponsor grab bags, attendee binders, and your name tags.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE EVENT SCHEDULE?

The full event schedule will be emailed to registered attendees in September or early October. For an idea of the seminars that will take place during the Workamper Rendezvous, click here.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

Dress code is casual – be comfortable but appropriate. The Community Center likes to keep the A/C cranked so it’s usually pretty cool (or comfortable, depending on how you run). For outdoor activities, you may need a jacket for our Arkansas fall weather.

WILL I BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE BOOKS AND OTHER RESOURCES AT THE EVENT?

The store table will be open each day of the Workamper Rendezvous. Check out the many great books and products from Rendezvous presenters & Workamper News. To order, please fill out the form provided in your attendee binder. Orders will be filled at least twice daily and can be picked up at the main Store table upstairs. Payment methods for books, courses, etc.: cash, check or credit card (Visa, MC, Discover, AMEX)

WHAT KIND OF FOOD WILL BE SERVED?

Breakfasts will entail some pastries, donuts, fruit and that sort of fare. Lunch will be a potato bar. Dinner on Thursday is often the most popular – BBQ brisket, coleslaw, BBQ beans, and probably fruit cobbler. During the special picnic fundraiser, hot dogs and chips will be offered for a donation to our chosen non-profit organization.

If you have strict dietary needs or are into healthy, clean eating…you’ll probably want to supplement the provided meals. There will be a microwave and refrigerator available at the Community Center.

During lunches and dinners when we aren’t feeding you, we encourage you to check out the local dining establishments. We’ll give attendees a special map in the attendee binder. Attendees in the past have also brought their own lunches and just ate at the Community Center.

WHERE CAN I GET FREE WIFI?

There’s free WiFi available at the Community Center. No password needed. McDonald’s also has free WiFi, along with Jitterbug Coffeehouse downtown. The locally-owned campgrounds may also provide WiFi with your RV site package.

WILL I NEED TO BRING CASH?

Maybe. There are a couple restaurants in town that are cash-only, but the majority of businesses will take credit card. If you’re interested in anything at the Workamper Rendezvous Store, we will take cash, check, or credit card.

IS IT TRUE HEBER SPRINGS IS IN A DRY COUNTY?

It’s a fact – Cleburne County is a dry county. A “beer run” will take about 2-3 hours as you’ll need to go almost to Little Rock. So pick up any spirits on your way in, as they are not sold in stores here. Cafe Klaser, Thunderbird Golf Course, Lindsey’s Pot O’ Gold Restaurant, and the VFW are four establishments that went through the work of getting a liquor license. But, you have to buy a “membership” (usually for one year; usually a few bucks) before you can order a drink at most of these places.

CAN I GET A PACKAGE OR MAIL WHILE I'M THERE?

If you’re staying at one of the locally-owned campgrounds or hotels, they will likely receive a package for you – just be sure to ask for which address to use. If staying at a Corps campground, you can have your package sent to the Workamper News office. Please contact the office (support@workamper.com or 800-446-5627) to let us know and we will provide you with the mailing address you can use. (The WKN office does not receive mail or FedEx/UPS on weekends.)

So Many Resources…

Anyone interested in the RV lifestyle needs to experience a Rendezvous. I know of nowhere where so many resources can be found in one place – face-to-face interaction is by far more informative than reading or watching DVDs, etc. The opportunity to talk to those who have made this decision and living the RV lifestyle was very positive.

Great classes. The roundtable discussions were great; they brought up topics we didn’t even know to ask questions about, like insurance and mail forwarding. I am much more knowledgeable now about the lifestyle.

This has been a very enlightening few days. I feel much more at ease with our decision to leave our present job and go down the road in our fifth wheel. Becoming Gold members opens a door to so much information and help that will be very valuable to us. SO Well Organized…

This Workamper Rendezvous was SO well organized! Each & every seminar was well prepared and clearly presented and there were plenty of places to make notes in the smartly organized personalized binders. Things were well timed and fun to attend. It seemed that every little detail was thought of, including a page to make new friends/connections. We've been made to feel VERY welcome. BRAVO!

Given Us The Complete Picture…

We have just started our dreaming and looking at full-time RVing (in 3 years or so). The Rendezvous has given us the complete picture of working – from start to full-time employment. We now have a very clear idea on what Workamping is all about and how to proceed. We’ve met a lot of great people and got ideas from others that probably wouldn’t have occurred to us. We expect to attend future Rendezvous to learn more.

I Wouldn’t Change A Thing…

Could be the most beneficial time I've spent in a conference setting. Not only did the individual classes provide information and inspiration, the roundtables and large group sessions were a confirmation of things I have thought of but done nothing about. I wouldn't change a thing!

Rendezvous Rocks…

Rendezvous Rocks! You'd think after 2 previous Rendezvous' that there wouldn't be anything left to learn. WRONG! If you aren't actively learning and growing - you might as well be sitting in a rocking chair going nowhere and waiting to be put 6 foot under!
